Can Bible passages be troublesome? Yes! One scholar has said that Jesus promised
his followers that they would be fearless, happy, and in constant trouble if they followed his teaching. In the first session, we’ll look at Matthew 5:48. “You, therefore, must be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Why would Jesus say that? How could Jesus possibly expect that of us?! We’ll also look at Jesus commands to forgive, and to not be anxious. We’ll look at facing death victoriously and what Paul meant by praying ceaselessly. I hope we can impart new truth and light on the path of our pilgrimage as we come to fresh understandings of these Bible passages.
